The book is about the video games that describes about videogames and genders that has been strongly shaped by a series of engaging encounters organized by the video game company. It is grateful to the cultural studies contingent at these events on how one can work with industry. This book defines what kind of games that boys and girls are playing. Most of the time boys are the one who played video games than girls. So they’ve invented some games that the girls played and they will gonna like a long time ago. For over past ten years interactive technologies have become a significant part of children’s culture. Video games such as “Super Mario” or “Sonic” have found a stable place in children’s playrooms, particularly when the games cater to boys interests in sports, adventure and combat. This type of games that have been invented are the type of videogames that the boys really play. The most popular games that some of the boys play is the fighting/versus games such as “Street Fighter” and “Mortal Kombat”. A type of software in the videogame that they made is the “pink software” that established a playground for girls that they’ve invented. .Some of the games became attractive to the boys and girls. The Tetris, Baku-Baku, Donkey Kong Country, Sonic The Hedgehog, Ecco the Dolphin and Nights into Dreams.

Therefore, the games are invented by gender from before until now to maintain interest for boys and girls in video games. These results convincingly suggest that boys and girls find many of the same game features appealing but not all of them. In my personal opinion, the book describes the difference of boys and girls of their interest about games. This book describes that all the types of the games have been played in Sega and Nintendo. So therefore, the purpose of a videogame media is to give entertainment with the people.

Hi my name is Rolando V. Afan II. This is my first post on my blog. Well all I can say about my experiences in media like TV, computers etc. is that the technology from the past till present is growing really fast. Before I got an ipod nano and ipod touch I have a walkman when i was in grade school and high school way back in my country where you can listen to radio and where you can play a casette tapes of music. When I have that since i was a kid I liked it but the only problem is if you listen to your casette tape that much the bettery gets low so fast and everytime that the music ends in the casette tapes you’ve got to turn it around always so you could listen to the rest of the music that you like. After that I used to have a discman. The thing that i liked about this device is it has a good quality but the only thing is if the discman fall to the floor accidentally it will not gonna work anymore and everytime that if u bring it anywhere and you’re listening to music while your walking sometimes the disc is getting jumped-off everytime you moved around too much. Then 2 to 3 years ago on my 21st birthday my parents birthday present for me is the ipod nano which is my very first ipod technology that I have. All I can say about it is that it’s not difficult for me anymore to choose and repeat the songs that i really like and you can put a thousands of songs/music that you really really liked. Same thing in the Ipod touch but the ipod touch has more gigs than ipod nano and in ipod touch you can connect to the internet, you can insert videos that you want and you can put downloaded games from the internet.

Then when it comes to the computers the first thing that I used is PC. When I was in highschool we used Microsoft Windows 95. Windows 95 is a good program of microsoft that contains a lot of datas and I learn how to used database program and pascal programs. Then after that the only program in microsoft windows that i really used before is the Microsoft Windows XP/XP Professional which still exist until now. Microsoft Windows XP/XP Professional for my opinion is the longest running program in PC because it has the complete set of datas. When I was in highschool me and my friends used to play games in PC using Microsoft Windows XP/XP Professional rather than the latest one like Windows Vista which is I currently used it’s really good to used too but it doesn’t have a complete set of datas. And now I have a Mac laptop which is I bought last 2 months ago included a free ipod touch. What change my life using computers is that I can used internet for my research studies, I can go to the anime sites where I can watch anime for free and I learn how to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Currently my experience in computer is that I learn the basics of Autodesk Maya Program because I want to learn how to make 3D animations and currently i’m studying adobe programs such as photoshops, illustrations etc. so I could learn different types of programs in computer art and media software programs.
